George Manginis-Bio

Dr. George Manginis (Archaeology and Art History PhD, SOAS) is the Academic Director of the Benaki Museum. He has taught Byzantine, Islamic and Chinese art history at the Universities of London (SOAS, Courtauld Institute), Edinburgh and elsewhere. He has excavated in Greece, Cyprus and Egypt and has worked for the Hellenic Children’s Museum and the Archaeological Museum of Ioannina. He has also acted as museum development consultant in the United Kingdom. His publications include scholarly articles and two books: Mount Sinai: A History of Travellers and Pilgrims (2016) and China Rediscovered: The Benaki Museum Collection of Chinese Ceramics (2016).
